Last year about this same time, I invited the Decker parents, community and other stakeholders to join the Decker faculty and staff to help support our vision for a quality school filled with student academic and character excellence.
I am proud to announce that the Decker students did not disappoint! The Texas Education Agency has announced that Decker Elementary has met STAAR Standard with Distinction in Index 2.
Overall, the Decker students, grades 3-5, enjoyed double-digit growth in all STAAR tested subjects.
Additionally, Decker Elementary scored #1 in the state in Index 2 (a category that measures student growth).
Decker Elementary is no longer an IR (Improvement Required) campus. For the first time since 2012, the school is enjoying a new Met Standard label as defined by TEA.
Even though we have come a long way in a short time, we still have much work to do.
I feel honored, privileged, and blessed to serve Decker Elementary again as Principal for the 2016-17 school year. The teachers, staff, school administrators, and I will continue to work very hard to prepare a place where students can feel safe, work on academic excellence, participate in a community of learners, and practice the art of good citizenship.
The Dolphin family of educators would like to thank the parents, community, and other stakeholders that helped us on our journey to academic excellence and character development.
We promise to work diligently everyday to help prepare great students and great people for the future.
