¡Hola! My name is Maria Fernanda Calderon. I was born in Bogota, the capital city of Colombia. I started teaching 12 years ago and fell in love with teaching children, languages and traveling. I have been in several places around the world and decided, along with my family, to move to U.S.A to do what I enjoy doing the most.
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Education in Spanish and Literature and have my TESL certificate. In 2013 I got my Master’s Degree in Education. Before coming to Manor ISD, I moved to Austin to work as a Spanish Lead Teacher at Kipp Obras, and before that, I worked in the Spanish Immersion Program in Sioux Falls SD for four years. In Colombia I was an ESL teacher at the Montessori British School for five years. I have worked with children from Kinder to 6th grade and so far 1st grade is one of my favorites!
When I am not in the school I spend all the time I can with my family. We play tennis, hike, watch movies, dance and travel. I love reading and along with my husband we love jigsaw puzzles, especially photo-mosaics.
